Karim Dighou (* 1970 in Morocco ) is a former Belgian Taekwondo athlete and successful Taekwondo trainer.

career

Dighou started Taekwondo at the age of 12. Together with his classmates, he took part in the Belgian championships at the age of 19, where they all suffered defeats in the first round. Driven by the conviction that one must have made serious mistakes in preparation, he began to continue his education in the areas of training methodologies, techniques, tactics and rules and to incorporate his knowledge into school training. At the Belgian championships a year later, the school provided five masters. Dighou was also Belgian champion, but never achieved titles at European or world championships.

Today Dighou is the Belgian national coach and employee of the Ministry of Sport of the Flemish Government and the Belgian Olympic Committee. The successful athletes he has trained include Si Mohamed Ketbi (up to 58 kg, Vice World Champion 2015), Mourad Laachraoui (up to 54 kg, European Champion 2015) and Jaouad Achab (up to 63 kg, European Champion 2014 and World Champion 2015), who made it through their performances also qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

In the women's area, the former Iranian taekwondo fighter Raheleh Asemani , who is now training under Dighou and now competes as a refugee through the Belgian federation, achieved the Olympic qualification.
