Karin Jackel
Karin Jäckel (born July 22, 1948 in Rerik ) is a German book author . She was known for her socially critical non - fiction and factual novels about true life stories from the present and history, but also writes novels for young people and children's books .
Life
Jäckel completed a degree in art history , German literature and language training at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . After receiving her doctorate on the Rococo sculptor Joachim Günther in 1975, she published short stories and academic articles in numerous newspapers and specialist journals.
Since 1970 she has worked as a freelancer for numerous newspapers, magazines, youth and daily newspapers as well as television and radio stations. In 1982 her first book was published in the children's book area. Since 1986 Jäckel has been writing socially critical nonfiction books on contemporary issues and biographical factual novels about contemporary and historical personalities for adults. Several bestsellers appeared in large numbers by 2019. In total, the author has published over 100 narrative works, some of which have been translated into several languages, as well as guides and audio books along with articles in anthologies and textbooks for publishers in Germany and abroad. She also published other children's books and guides under the pseudonyms Anna Benthin and Karin Voss. She co-directed television reports on ZDF and appeared as an expert in numerous radio reports, television talk shows and advice programs on various book topics. SWR paid tribute to her work in three interview programs in the "People" series with Wolfgang Heim.
In 2013, Jäckel founded the Ortenau-Alsace authors' network, which she has since led on a voluntary basis, based in Oberkirch, in which numerous publicists and songwriters from the region come together. With events "Word Art & Music" and an annual writing competition for children and adults, they promote cross-border word art and music in the region on both sides of the Rhine.
At the end of 2018 Jäckel founded her own publishing house, Edition Blue Hour, based in Oberkirch.
