Karin Lesch

Karin Lesch (born May 18, 1935 in Zurich , Switzerland ) is a German actress .

Life

Karin Lesch is the daughter of the actress Mathilde Danegger . Her mother emigrated to Switzerland in 1933 , where she worked in cabaret and at the Zurich theater . Her father is the Swiss director, dramaturge and author Walter Lesch . In 1947 she moved with her mother to West Germany, then in 1951 to the GDR as a committed communist .

Karin Lesch studied at what was then the State Drama School in Berlin . An engagement at the Potsdamer Theater followed later . In addition to theater engagements in Berlin, Lesch received a few film assignments from the DFF and DEFA . She played in various fairy tale films, for example as the miller's daughter in the fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin , which was filmed under the title The Magic Man. She had previously played this role at the Potsdam Theater.

Her best-known role is her finely ironic and tactful queen in Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella . Rolf Hoppe , who played the king in this film, wanted her as a film partner. After this film she stayed with the theater.

She was married to the director and later DEFA general director Hans Dieter Mäde (1930–2009). She lives secluded in a small town near Berlin.
