Karin Spelge

Karin Spelge (* 1961 in Bad Gandersheim ) is a German lawyer and a judge at the Federal Labor Court since June 1, 2008 . Since June 2018 she has been the presiding judge at the Federal Labor Court.

Career

Karin Spelge grew up in Northeim and passed her Abitur there. From 1981 she studied law at the University of Göttingen . In 1987 she finished her studies with the first state examination in law . This was followed by her legal clerkship at the higher regional court district of Celle and the second state examination in 1990. Following the second state examination in 1990, she entered the higher judicial service of Lower Saxony . Here she worked as a judge at several labor courts . Between 1993 and 1997 Spelge was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant . In 1998 she was appointed director at the labor court in Nienburg . In 2000, Spelge was promoted to presiding judge at the Lower Saxony State Labor Court .

On May 26, 2008, Spelge was appointed judge at the Federal Labor Court with effect from June 1, 2008.

On June 1, 2018, she was appointed presiding judge. She was given the chairmanship of the 6th Senate, where she replaced Ernst Fischermeier .
