Karin Timmermann (born September 6, 1947 in Aschaffenburg ) is a Hamburg politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

Life

Timmermann is a trained business woman . From 2007 to 2013 she was managing director of the SPD Hamburg . In addition to her parliamentary work, she is a member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) and a member of the supervisory board of the building cooperative Dennerstraße-Selbsthilfe eG.

She is married and has two kids. Her daughter Juliane has also been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since 2008.

politics

Timmermann has been a member of the SPD since 1987. She has been a member of the board of the Poppenbüttel district since 1989 , several years of which she has been chairwoman and since 1992 has been a member of the Wandsbek district executive committee.

From 1994 to 2004 she sat in the Hamburg-Wandsbek district assembly . Between 1997 and 2004 she was the deputy chairman of her group.

Timmermann was a member of the Hamburg Parliament from March 17, 2004 to 2015 . She represented the SPD in the submission committee, sports committee, urban development committee and economic committee. She was the specialist spokesperson for her group for seniors. Since March 28, 2018, she has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament again. She did not run again for the 2020 general election.
