Karin von Aroldingen

Karin Anny Hannelore Reinbold von Aroldingen ( September 9, 1941 in Greiz - January 5, 2018 in New York City ) was a prima ballerina .

Live and act

Karin von Aroldingen grew up in West Berlin after the war . She was later part of the ballet ensemble in Frankfurt.

In the early 1960s she switched to choreographer George Balanchine in New York, where she became a star. Balanchine, with whom she was also a close friend, wrote numerous roles for her. In 1984 she ended her active career as a dancer.

Karin von Aroldingen was married to the real estate agent Morton Gewirtz , with whom she had a daughter, the jewelry designer Margo Manhattan .
