Karl-Heinz Fichtner

Karl-Heinz Fichtner (born August 16, 1962 in Nuremberg ) is a former German decathlete .

Life

Fichtner began his sporting career at LG Röthenbach and then moved to TSV 1860 Munich . From 1986 or 1987 he started for the LC Olympiapark Munich . In 1981 he took part in the Junior European Championships and took fifth place. Between 1982 and 1989 he competed in the national jersey four times.

At the German decathlon championships in 1985 Fichtner finished fifth with 8052 points, in the team classification the team of TSV Munich 1860 with Fichtner, Peter and Mayr came second. Two years later, now starting for the LC Olympiapark , Fichtner took second place behind Michael Neugebauer with 7811 points at the German decathlon championships in 1987 . In the team ranking, Fichtner, Chirco and Sieg also achieved second place.

In 1988 Fichtner took second place behind Rainer Sonnenburg at the German championships with 8000 points , and the team from Munich with Fichtner, Bruno Chirco and Stefan Winkler won . In 1989 Fichtner won both titles at the German championships . In the individual competition he won with 8205 points, in the team competition he was successful with Holger Schmidt and Bruno Chirco.

Fichtner achieved his personal best on 18./19. June 1988 in Götzis, Austria with 8250 points.

After his active career as a decathlete, Fichtner opened a diving base (Dive Unlimited) with a diving school on January 10, 1998 ; he is also a diving instructor himself .
