Karl-Heinz Vanheiden

Karl-Heinz Vanheiden (* 1948 in Jena ) is a German evangelical author , preacher and Bible translator .

Life

Vanheiden grew up in a family connected with the Brethren movement . From 1967 to 1971 he studied physics in Halle (Saale) , after which he began a full-time job in the youth work of the Brethren in the GDR . From 1975 until 2015 he worked as a teacher at the Burgstädt Bible School . 1985–1990 he was a member of the management group of the “Faith and Knowledge” working group in the GDR. Since 1989 he has been a Bible teacher in the travel service and a member of the Standing Committee of the Bibelbund , from 1994 to 2013 publishing director of the Bibelbund-Verlag, from 1998 to 2013 editor of the Bibelbund magazine Bibel und Gemeinde . He also gives lectures in collaboration with the Wort und Wissen study group .

His biggest project in recent years is the creation of the New Evangelistic Translation (NeÜ bibel.heute) , a translation of the Bible into today's German, which has been on the market as a print version since 2010 and is continuously being developed. He wants to provide a generally understandable and fluently readable Bible text in modern German, which is nevertheless close to the Hebrew and Greek basic text. Improvements flow into each new edition of the print version and continuously into the digital versions it offers.

Vanheiden is married with two grown children and lives in Gefell .
