Karl-Heinz Wellerdiek

Karl-Heinz Wellerdiek (* 1959 in Gütersloh ; † January 15, 2019 ) was a German singer , actor , writer and theater director .

Life

Karl-Heinz Wellerdiek grew up in his hometown. In order to be able to continue running the family-owned furniture company later, he completed both a commercial and a carpenter's apprenticeship. Interested in literature and theater from an early age by his mother, Wellerdiek later studied singing ( tenor voice ) and acting in New York, Munich and Hamburg.

Wellerdiek gained his first professional experience on cruise ships until he came to Hamburg in 1982, where he initially ran five hotels of his own, but then opened a dance school. In this capacity he realized several instructional videos under the title Learn to Dance - Step by Step . 2004 Wellerdiek took over the Engelsaal on Valentinskamp in Hamburg's Neustadt , the operettas, musicals and revues hit the so-called light entertainment brings to the game plan. He wrote screenplays and comedies, wrote stage libretti and short stories. His last work was in 2018 with Mama Loo, a musical with songs by Les Humphries .

In April 2019, Wellerdiek was awarded the Portuguese Silver by the Hamburg Senate for his services to Hamburg's culture . He died after a brief serious illness, leaving behind his husband Thomas Wellerdiek.
