Karl-Otto Völker

Karl-Otto Völker (born March 5, 1946 in Schorndorf , † May 9, 2020 ) was a German author and local politician ( SPD ).

Live and act

Until 2011, Völker was Head of Product Management , Communication and Health at AOK Baden-Württemberg (District Office Ludwigsburg-Rems-Murr). In 2013 he published the Daimler biography "Gottlieb Daimler - A Moving Life" (Silberburg-Verlag, Tübingen), which he wrote together with Renate Völker . He was married to the author Renate Völker ; they have two sons together.

Karl-Otto Völker was a member of the Schorndorf municipal council from 1978 to 2016 (chairman of the SPD parliamentary group). From 1994 to 2014 he was a member of the district assembly of the Rems-Murr district , from 2006 to 2011 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. In the state elections on March 24, 1996 , he was a candidate for the SPD in constituency 16 (Schorndorf).

On October 15, 2007, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his voluntary work. On December 9, 2018, he was only the tenth citizen to receive the highest honor in the city of Schorndorf with the title of honorary citizen. It was awarded to him in recognition of his services as a local politician, for his diverse voluntary work and in recognition of his decades of tireless commitment to the welfare of his hometown Schorndorf.

Until 2018 he was Chairman of the Baden-Württemberg State Seniors' Council. He was also a member of the administrative board of the Kreissparkasse Waiblingen and was a member of the advisory board of the medical service of the health insurance Baden-Württemberg. He was also a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Care Committee.
