Karl-Peter Naumann (born October 25, 1950 in Hamburg ) is honorary chairman of the Pro Bahn passenger association , of which he was national chairman from March 1996 to March 2012. He is also deputy chairman of the Pro-Rail Alliance .

Life

Naumann is a qualified chemist . In 1981 he co-founded the Hamburg Passenger Initiative (FIH) and in 1986 a founding member of the Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD) .

In the 1990s he headed the “Mixed Commissions”, a committee of German passenger associations , and entered into technical discussions on tariffs and timetables with the two state railways Deutsche Bundesbahn and Deutsche Reichsbahn , or later with their successor Deutsche Bahn AG .

In March 1996, Naumann took over the office of Federal Chairman of Pro Bahn from his predecessor Kurt Bielecki and was at the head of the passenger association for over 16 years. His successor was Jörg Bruchertseifer in 2012 . Karl-Peter Naumann was appointed honorary chairman in 2012.

At Allianz pro Schiene, he has been Deputy Chairman with interruptions since it was founded in June 2000.

In 2002 he sued Deutsche Bahn for two statements about the new price system . The proceedings were later dropped.

He is now active as a member of the association's press team.

Controversy

In 2011 Naumann should work as a freelancer for the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB Training. Naumann's project met with criticism from within Pro Bahn. The appointment ultimately did not materialize.

After the end of his post as chairman in 2012, Naumann was to oversee a “Safety in Rail Traffic” project endowed with EUR 340,000 for 3 years. A social fund of the Eisenbahn-Verkehrsgewerkschaft (EVG) and the employers' association Move, should finance this pro-Bahn project. Association-internal critics endanger the independence of Pro Bahn. The “Security for employees and passengers of transport companies” project was finally started in August 2013 as a joint action by the rail and transport union , “Pro Bahn Service” and the police union and was completed in March 2016. The management was in the hands of Karl-Peter Naumann.
