Karl Alexander Schmidt

Karl Alexander Schmidt (born November 26, 1811 in Trier , † October 26, 1865 in Saarburg ) was a German priest and member of the Prussian House of Representatives .

Life

After visiting a Trier High School, graduating in 1829 with high school, he began studying the philosophy and Catholic theology . After being ordained a priest on May 28, 1834 , he went to Saarburg, where he worked as a chaplain until 1839 . His other stations in life were from 1839 to 1846 as a pastor in Lieser , then from March 21, 1846 again as a pastor in Cochem and from 1849 as dean. On September 19, 1860, he returned to Saarburg as a pastor and became dean there the following year.

politics

From 1852 to 1853, Schmidt was elected as a representative of constituency 4 ( Bad Kreuznach - Simmern - Zell ) as a member of the Prussian House of Representatives. Politically, Schmidt, who was a member of the Catholic party, was viewed by the government as very moderately opposition during his tenure. In Berlin , Schmidt was still one of the founding members of the Catholic parliamentary group . In 1856 he was re-elected to the House of Representatives for constituency 5 (Cochem- Mayen ), but left there on December 31, 1856.
