Karl Andelfinger

Karl Andelfinger , also spelling Carl Andelfinger , (born March 1, 1828 in Vorderstieg bei Heiligenberg , † after 1905) was a Baden sculptor who worked in Freiburg im Breisgau .

In 1863 he and his bride Marie Eschger (born August 19, 1825) became citizens of Freiburg, the wedding took place on April 16, 1863 in the cathedral parish of Freiburg. In the following year their daughter Maria Josephina Andelfinger was born or was baptized.

In 1863 he created for the Church in Oberwinden a statue of St. Agathe, 1868 for the Church in Röhrenbach a Hl. Anna and the Blessed Mother, both of which are now lost.

For the church of St. Georg in Sankt Georgen near Freiburg, which was built from 1866 to 1869, he created an altar table and 16 cherubim as belt arches .

Some of his works can be found in the old cemetery in Freiburg. Together with Wilhelm Walliser he created the grave for Karl Mutschler († 1864) and the substructure for the grave of the theologian Friedrich Michelis (1815–1886) in the main cemetery in Freiburg im Breisgau , which is crowned by a bronze monument by Friedrich Moest . An apostle Paul von Andelfinger can be found on the east wall of the cemetery .
