Life

Origin and family

Karl Anton Freiherr von Kerckerinck zu Stapel came from the Westphalian hereditary family von Kerckerinck , whose relatives played an important role in the Münster hereditary dispute . Thanks to the tireless efforts of his grandfather Johann Ludwig von Kerckerinck zu Stapel (1671–1750) it was possible for him and his brother Johann Franz to obtain a cathedral canon. Karl Anton's father was the former canon Franz Hermann von Kerckerinck zu Stapel (1713–1778), his mother Maria Sophia von Rollingen.

Act

In 1775 Karl Anton received cathedral praisees in Osnabrück and Münster through the renunciation of his brother Johann Franz . In 1788 he was ordained a subdeacon . Karl Anton was archdeacon in Winterswijk and provost of St. Ludgeri Münster and St. Remigius Borken . In 1784 he renounced the benefice in Osnabrück and in 1796 he transferred part of his cathedral canon to Canon Paul Karl von Hanxleben. This procedure was unusual because the cases in which practicing canons in good health did without their only prebend were very rare. Since his brother Johann Franz died in 1792 without heirs, Karl Anton raised claims to the Stapel property and received an annual pension of 1,500 thalers from his sister-in-law. With the death of Karl Anton, the Kerckerincks died out in stacks in the male line.
