Karl Arthur hero
Karl Arthur Held (born January 5, 1884 in Eisleben , † August 6, 1939 in Höxter ) was a German landscape painter and author .
life and work
Held studied 1908–1910 at the Berlin Art School , then with Paul Bunke at the Weimar School of Painting . He later lived in Höxter on the Weser and from April 1, 1919 was a drawing teacher at the König-Wilhelm-Gymnasium . Held mainly devoted himself to landscape painting, whereby he was particularly connected to his adopted home, the Weser Uplands, and found numerous motifs here. He published a number of his pictures in a book about the Weser. In addition, he also made wooden sculptures . Held was a member of the NSDAP from May 1, 1933 , from 1934 a member of the National Socialist Teachers Association (NSLB) and NSDAP district culture warden.
