Karl August Traugott Vogt
Karl August Traugott Vogt , also Carl Vogt , (born March 15, 1808 in Wittenberg , † January 22, 1869 in Greifswald ) was a German Lutheran theologian and professor at the University of Greifswald .
Life
Vogt, son of the late Traugott Karl August Vogt and his wife Johanna Christiane Schilling, studied Protestant theology in Berlin , especially with August Neander . He completed his habilitation on August 4, 1830 in Berlin and worked as a private lecturer, associate professor and preacher. On September 10, 1837 Vogt was appointed full professor for exegesis and practical theology at the theological faculty of the University of Greifswald. He received his doctorate in theology, rose in the hierarchy of the theological faculty, became superintendent and consistorial councilor of Greifswald and was rector of this university in 1846/47, 1855/56 and 1862/63 . He was of particular importance as a Bugenhagen researcher .
Vogt had married the daughter of superintendent Ernst August Dankegott Hoppe and his wife Friedericke Wilhelmine Nitzsch from Eisleben in Berlin. His son Paul Friedrich Immanuel Vogt became a surgeon, his son Friedrich Hermann Traugott Vogt a historian.
