Karl Aurand

Karl Aurand (born December 30, 1923 in Frankfurt am Main , † February 1, 2007 ) was a German physicist . His main areas of work were in the field of radiation and environmental research .

Life

From 1975 to 1983 he was director of the Institute for Water, Soil and Air Hygiene ( WaBoLu ) in Berlin . From 1974 to 1977 and from 1979 to 1987 he was a member of the Radiation Protection Commission (SSK). After 1990 he was heavily involved in rebuilding the former radon bath in Schlema .

In 1999 he was awarded the Hanns Langendorff Medal .
