Karl Banghard

Karl Banghard senior (born October 14, 1923 in Flehingen ; † February 7, 2008 ) was a German journalist and local researcher.

Career

He began his activity as a journalist in 1950 for the Badische Neuesten Nachrichten , first in Bretten and from 1964 in Bruchsal . In 1970, he succeeded the outgoing Ludwig Arnet as head of the Karlsruhe-Land editorial team until he retired in 1988.

In addition to his professional activity, he devoted himself in several publications to the local history and monument conservation issues of his home region. In 1979 he presented a local chronicle for the 1200th anniversary of his birthplace Flehingen.

His son, the prehistorian Karl Banghard junior, is the director of the archaeological open-air museum in Oerlinghausen and also publishes as a local researcher. Among other things, Karl Banghard jun. the construction of the Bach knights castle Kanzach , the first reconstruction of a medieval wooden castle in the German-speaking area. Scientifically, Karl Banghard jun. especially with the Merovingian period, especially with its chronology and long-distance trade history.
