He won his first professional fight on November 29, 1929 in Vienna by winning points against Oskar Reppel. The venue for the fight was the Renz circus. He suffered his first defeat in his 16th fight in March 1931 in Berlin against the experienced German Franz Dübbers, who had already won multiple German and European championships among amateurs. He also reached a draw against European champion Aldo Spoldi and won the Austrian welterweight championship against Hans Fraberger on June 16, 1933 , and he was able to defend the title twice against Hans Norbert.

Despite losing points to the Scandinavian champion Einar Aggerholm, he got the chance for the EBU welterweight title on May 5, 1935 in Dortmund , but was knocked out in the fifth round by the German title holder Gustav Eder and suffered the only premature defeat of his career.

However, he then won against the Czech champion Egon Klumpler, the French champion Pierre Momont, the German champion Willy Seisler and EM challenger Richard Stegemann, and on September 17, 1937, he won the Austrian lightweight championship against Franz Melkus. On August 10, 1938 in Vienna he also won the title of German lightweight champion by winning again against Richard Stegemann and defended it against Albert Esser, Karl Beck, Kurt Bielski and again Albert Esser, and he also won a non-title fight against the Italian champion Oberdan Romeo.

Then he boxed on October 26, 1940 in Vienna for the EBU lightweight title against Otello Abbruciati and won over 15 rounds unanimously on points. After defending his title in February 1941 against the Dane Carl Andersen, he lost the title on May 31, 1941 by losing points to Bruno Bisterzo.

He won his last fight in February 1942 by knockout in the first round against the former German champion Fritz Reppel.

After his active career, he worked as a boxing trainer, died in 1962 and was buried at Sieveringer Friedhof (group 26, row 3, number 11) in Döbling .
