Karl Buchholz (cyclist)

Karl Buchholz (born June 2, 1932 ; † October 26, 2017 ) was a German cyclist and local politician .

In 1959 and from 1961 to 1964 in a row, Karl Buchholz and his brother Oskar became world champions in cycling five times . The brothers were also German champions six times. After finishing his active career, he headed the local cycling club RSV “Blitz” Lauterbach as chairman for many years .

From 1965 to 1994 Buchholz sat for the CDU in Lauterbach's municipal council for almost 30 years . In his last term of office from 1989 to 1994 he also held the office of first deputy mayor. He was a transport company by profession.

Karl Buchholz was awarded the silver bay leaf and the state badge .
