Karl Christian Ulmann (Latvian: Kārlis Kristināns Ulmanis; * February 3 jul. / February 14,  1793 greg. In Riga ; † October 8 jul. / October 20,  1871 greg. In Walk , Livonia ) was a German-Baltic theologian .

Life

During his studies, Karl Christian Ulmann became a member of the original fraternity in Jena . After a few years as a country pastor, Ulmann worked as a professor for practical theology at the Imperial University of Dorpat from 1835 , where he was the rector's office from 1839 to 1841. Exiled from Dorpat in 1842, he headed the elementary school system as a school councilor in Riga from 1844. In 1856 he was appointed by Tsar Alexander II as Vice President of the Saint Petersburg Evangelical Lutheran General Consistory to be the supreme clergyman of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Russian Empire and honored with the title of bishop. Ulmann retired in 1868.
