Karl Christoph Klauer
Karl Christoph Klauer (born October 30, 1961 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German social and cognitive psychologist . In 2004 he received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, endowed with 1.55 million euros, for his research on human communication.
biography
Karl Christoph Klauer was born in 1961. He studied mathematics and psychology at RWTH Aachen from 1980 to 1983 and spent one year (1983/84) at St. Catharine's College in Oxford . He received his diploma in mathematics in 1984, followed by a diploma in psychology in 1985.
From 1985 to 1986 he worked at the University of Hamburg as a research assistant and from 1986 to 1988 he did a doctorate as part of the DFG projects " Ordinary Network Scaling " and " Component Theory of Attitude " under the direction of Hubert Feger. In 1988 he received his doctorate in Hamburg and then went to the Free University of Berlin as a research assistant , where he completed his habilitation in 1992 . In 1994 he was appointed to a C3 professorship for general experimental psychology at the University of Heidelberg , in 1996 he became a C4 professor for psychology at the University of Bonn , and is currently professor for social psychology and methodology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg .

Karl Christoph Klauer's research focuses primarily on the investigation of propositional reasoning . He examines the phenomenon that a person would rather accept wrong reasoning when the result meets his expectations than correct reasoning when the result is unexpected.
