from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Clausen (* 1941 in Roßdorf ; † 2010 ) was a German basketball player . The son of the German basketball pioneer Theo Clausen  became German champion with MTV Gießen in 1965 .

career

As a child, Clausen first played basketball in Roßdorf , where the family lived. After his father took over the position of head of the Graf Friedrich Magnus Alumnate in Laubach  in 1955, Clausen the Younger played basketball as an alumni student and for Teutonia Laubach.

After passing high school, Karl Clausen moved to VfB 1900 Gießen, then to MTV Gießen . In 1965, the 1.80-meter-tall build-up player won the German basketball championship with the “men's gymnastics”. Due to a torn cruciate ligament, he later had to retire as an active player, but remained loyal to the sport. Clausen worked as a basketball lecturer at the University of Giessen and, after passing the state examination in English and sports, started teaching at the Laubacher Alumnat, where he taught basketball in sports lessons and supervised school teams.

Due to a heart attack, he stopped playing basketball, and in 2010 Karl Clausen died.
