Karl Dietrich Graewe

Karl Dietrich Gräwe (born May 3, 1937 in Bielefeld , † October 14, 2019 in Berlin ) was a German dramaturge .

Life

Gräwe studied music and theater studies as well as German at the LMU in Munich. He obtained his degree with a dissertation on Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal .

Teaching engagements also led Graewe to the music academies in Hamburg and Berlin .

He was also dramaturge at the Hamburg State Opera and was appointed by Götz Friedrich to the Deutsche Oper Berlin , where he was chief dramaturge until 1984.

Since 1969, he has also worked as a freelancer for radio and television.
