Karl Dreher

Karl Eduard Dreher (born March 3, 1848 in Büsingen ; † December 23, 1906 in Wittlingen ) was a Baden mill owner and member of parliament.

Life

Karl Dreher studied mechanical engineering at the Karlsruhe Polytechnic and became a member of the Corps Saxonia Karlsruhe in 1866 . After he had completed his studies as an engineer, he became the owner of the Bärenfelsermühle in Wittlingen through his marriage to Anna Maria Müller in 1872, in which he installed what was then an ultra-modern turbine for generating energy for the mill operation as early as 1875.

As a member of the National Liberal Party , he was from 1885 to 1896 for the constituency of the office of Lörrach (without Stetten) a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly . He also won the state election of October 28, 1897 . However, since the uniformed police officer in Wyhlen had distributed ballot papers for the National Liberal Party, the meeting of the estates declared the election of the eight electors in Wyhlen and the election of Dreher to be invalid on December 10, 1897 . His place was taken by Johann Hagist (1833–1907) from the Free People's Party . Hagist also won the election of 1901 , before he had to hand it back to Dreher in the following legislative period, who was to keep the seat until 1904.
