Karl Eichinger (politician)

Karl Eichinger (born June 20, 1897 in Getzersdorf ; † December 11, 1983 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer . Eichinger was a member of the Federal Council from 1945 to 1949 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1949 to 1962 .

Life

Eichinger attended the five-grade elementary school in Pyhra, the state agricultural college in Pyhra and then worked as a farmer. Politically, he was active as mayor of Pyhra from 1935 to 1938, and he was also the deputy chairman of the land traffic commission for the St. Pölten district. In 1945 he became deputy mayor of the city of St. Pölten, and he was also active as deputy chairman of the district chamber of farmers. He represented the ÖVP in the Federal Council between December 19, 1945 and November 5, 1949, and was Chairman of the Federal Council from July 1, 1947 to December 31, 1947. He then served as a member of the National Council from November 8, 1949 to December 14, 1962.
