Karl Emig

Karl Emig (born May 13, 1902 in Eberbach ; † March 3, 1989 ibid) was a German confectioner and member of the state parliament in Baden-Württemberg.

Life and work

Emig was born in 1902 as the son of Heinrich and Anna Emig. He had three siblings and two half-siblings. After completing school and training at the Kurhaus Baden-Baden , he took over his father's pastry shop at the age of 22. He married for the first time in 1928. With his wife Käthe he had two children, Irmgard (born November 23, 1928) and Karl jun. (* June 28, 1930). In 1931 the first wife died, whereupon Emig married her older sister Elise. During the Second World War, Emig was a corporal in an anti-aircraft battalion.

After the war, Emig returned to his café in Eberbach and began his political career. He married a third time after the death of his second wife in old age. Together with his third wife Elisabeth, he celebrated a peaceful retirement until he died in 1989 at the age of 86.

Emig joined the CDU in Württemberg-Baden in 1945 . From 1945 to 1971 he was a district councilor in the district of Heidelberg , for a total of 15 years councilor in his home parish and from 1960 to 1968 in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . Emig was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Eberbach. On June 12, 1970, he received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class.
