Karl Ferdinand von Görtz
Karl Ferdinand von Görtz (born October 24, 1750 at Schlagwitz Castle in Moravia , † December 26, 1813 in Rosenberg in Upper Silesia ) was a royal Prussian major general and most recently inspector of the cavalry in Silesia .
Life
origin
His parents were Johann Baptist Joseph von Görtz (* February 22, 1724) and his wife Antonie von Osietzki (* 1767). His father was the tenant of the Vorwerk in Rozezin near Myslowitz .
Military career
In 1764 he joined the Hussar Regiment No. 3 as a Junker . There he became cornet on August 3, 1768 and second lieutenant on September 20, 1775. As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On May 6, 1781 he was appointed Premier-Lieutenant in the Hussar Regiment No. 3 and on June 20, 1791 as a staff commander. During the First Coalition War he fought in the battle at Moncheut (a) in (September 15, 1792) and received the Pour le Mérite on September 24, 1792 , and on February 14, 1793 he became a real Rittmeister.
On November 2, 1796, he became a major, and on January 5, 1805, he was appointed commander of the 2nd Battalion of Hussar Regiment No. 3. He fought with it in the Fourth Coalition War .
After the Peace of Tilsit he was on February 15, 1807 Lieutenant Colonel and on May 7, 1808 inspector of the cavalry in Silesia. On October 11, 1809, he was given the task of observing and then reporting on the purchases of the cavalry in Brandenburg and Silesia. He was then appointed colonel on February 4, 1811, with a patent on February 6, 1811. Due to an illness he was given his farewell as major general on July 1, 1813, with a salary of 1000 thalers at grace, even before the wars of liberation began . He died on December 26, 1813 in Rosenberg in Upper Silesia.

He married on February 18, 1794 in Seichwitz near Pitschen in Upper Silesia Marianne Friederike Thekla von Faldern (* August 3, 1768, † March 28, 1833). The couple had several children:
