Karl Flemisch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Flemisch (* 1878 ; † 1937 ) was a German folk singer and comedian .

life and work

Flemisch was a painter by profession and began his career as a folk singer around the turn of the century with one of the so-called ambulatory Sunday societies. These were associations that only appeared on weekends, since their members were involved in civil professional life throughout the week. They also had no fixed venues, and as a fee they often had to be content with just a warm dinner - to what they could collect for themselves by “wiggling” from the audience.

Flemisch never stayed with one company for long, he often changed. After he had already achieved some fame himself, from 1915 he was a partner in the performances of Karl Valentin and Liesl Karlstadt in the vaudeville hall "Vienna-Munich" in the Hotel Wagner in Munich's Sonnenstrasse, z. B. in the famous alpine singer trio and in the "orchestra rehearsal". Later he could be seen in the Hotel Peterhof and at the side of August Junker and Hans Blädel .

Flemisch is captured in a film fragment from 1913 that was shot in Karl Valentin's studio on Platzl in Munich.

In 1929 Flemisch played in the Franz Seitz film "Links der Isar - right der Spree" as 'Xaver Speckmaier' alongside Albert Paulig and Weiss Ferdl .

Flemisch died in 1937. His grave is in the Perlacher Forst cemetery .
