Peter Karl Freiherr Ott von Bátorkéz (* 1738 in Gran , Hungary , † May 10, 1809 in Ofen ) was an Austrian Lieutenant Field Marshal .

Life

Ott von Bátorkéz was a participant in the Seven Years War and the War of the Bavarian Succession from 1778–1779. In the 8th Austrian Turkish War he was found as a hussar colonel after the storming of the Turkish camp of Kalafat on June 16, 1790 “therefore worthy of the highly respected Knight's Cross of the Military Maria Theresa Order [...] because he was at his own risk his regiment at the side of the storming infantry penetrated into the entrenchments of the enemy, drove them to flight and pursued them without delay with successful emphasis. After the beginning of the coalition wars, Ott von Bátorkéz was relocated to the Rhine with his regiment in 1792, where he advanced to major general in 1793 and fought on the Rhine and in northern Italy over the next few years.

In 1799 he distinguished himself as a field marshal lieutenant : above all during the capture of Brescia (April 21), in the battles of Cassano (April 27) and on the Trebbia (June 18), during the conquest of Fort S. Urbano (July 10th) and in the Battle of Novi (August 15th) he played a decisive role in the success. On November 4th, his troops played a decisive role in the victory in the Battle of Genola . For this he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Theresa .

He also took part in the 1800 campaign, but suffered a defeat by Marshal Lannes on June 9 at Montebello . Soon after the Battle of Marengo he was withdrawn from the field army and assigned to the General Command in Ofen , where he spent the last years of his life.
