Karl Friederich

Karl Friederich (born April 8, 1885 in Strasbourg , † September 17, 1944 in Ulm ) was a German engineer and from 1925 to 1944 master builder in Ulm.

In 1929 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Karlsruhe . His dissertation The development of stone from the 11th to the 18th century is still considered a standard work on the history of stone processing . In it he put forward the thesis that stonemasons' marks were attached to stacks of blocks to indicate which work had already been paid for.
