Karl Friedrich August Kühns , also Carl Friedrich August Kühns , (born November 1, 1808 in Blankenfelde near Berlin , † November 29, 1888 in Lüneburg ) was a German educator.

Life

Kühns was born during the French occupation of the Kingdom of Prussia . He attended the Friedrichwerdersche Gymnasium in Berlin until 1827 , then was an assistant teacher at a boys' school until 1830, before joining the Royal Seminary for City Schools under director Adolph Diesterweg on January 1, 1831 . Kühns passed the exam on May 7, 1834 with the grade "Excellent". He was recommended and accepted as a candidate at the Johanneum high school in Lüneburg . On October 15, 1834, he began his service there as the first main teacher of the real classes of the grammar school with the subjects of French, mathematics and natural sciences. In 1846 Kühns helped found the trade school (vocational school) in Lüneburg and worked there as a conductor. In 1874 he was awarded the title “Inspector of the Realschule”.

Honor

In 1884 the King of Prussia awarded him the Red Eagle Order, fourth class, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his service .
