Karl Friedrich Otto Schuster

Karl Friedrich Otto Schuster (born December 19, 1846 in Karlsruhe ; † January 11, 1927 there ) was a German officer , weather researcher and mayor.

Friedrich Schuster was active in the Baden fortress artillery since 1865. In 1892 he resigned from military service , now with the rank of lieutenant colonel , but was called up again for military service in the First World War . From 1895 to 1904 he was mayor of Triberg . During his term of office, u. a. the construction of a new slaughterhouse and the commissioning of a public swimming pool - Triberg was the first place in the Black Forest with such a facility. Plans for a spa facility also began during Schuster's tenure , but this dragged on until the 1960s.

Schuster was married to Maria Eisenlohr. After his active military service, he devoted himself to weather research, collected weather data from Karlsruhe and other places and published a large number of articles, including a. on the influence of the moon on the weather and on his studies of air pressure .

His estate with numerous documents and records, both during his military service and his time as mayor, as well as his meteorological studies, has been in the Baden State Library since 1927 .
