Karl Friedrich Schenck

Karl Friedrich Schenck (* 1781 in Hilchenbach ; † February 2, 1849 in Kreuztal ) was a German magistrate and author.

Schenck, eight of ten children of the Princely Nassau-Orange Council and bailiff Joh. Heinrich Schenck , studied law and economics. After initial literary activity, he later acquired an estate near Weiden in Kreuztal and set up 16 acres of meadow there. He is considered to be the first author of a textbook on practical meadow construction and was the editor of the publication Kritische Zeitschrift über Wiesenbau published by Wilhelm Friedrichs Verlag . He also wrote the "Statistics of the former Principality of Siegen", first published by Vorländer in 1820 and a second edition in 1838, as well as the first German landscape folklore.
