Karl Graefe

Karl Gräfe (born January 12, 1878 in Borlas , † March 26, 1944 in Freiberg ) was a German educator , poet and composer .

After completing his training at the Dresden-Friedrichstadt and Dresden-Plauen teachers' seminars, Karl Gräfe became an assistant teacher in Johnsbach near Glashütte in 1898 . From 1901 until his retirement he worked as a teacher and from 1931 as a senior teacher in Rechenberg-Bienenmühle . On site he was involved in various associations such as the Erzgebirgszweigverein , in which he acted as secretary, the gymnastics club "Eintracht" and the military club . In 1937 he retired in Freiberg, where he died in 1944 at the age of 66.

In his spare time he wrote and composed. In total, over 200 poems were created - partly in High German and partly in Eastern Ore Mountains dialect  - as well as fairy tales, short stories or stories. One of his best-known titles is the native song “Mein Rechenberg im Muldental”, published in 1926 as a song postcard .
