Karl Groß (soccer player)

Karl Groß (born December 27, 1934 - † July 12, 2019 ) was a German football player. He played from 1957 to 1960 for SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt 29 times in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . In 1957 and 1959 he was GDR champions with SC Wismut.

Athletic career

On December 15, 1957, in the last season game (it was played in the calendar year rhythm) of SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt, Karl Groß came in the 60th minute as a substitute for his first league use. Together with his team he was able to celebrate winning the championship. In the following season, Groß played from the first day of the league and became a regular player of SC Wismut with 22 of 26 played league games as a right defender. Of the eight games in the 1958/59 European Cup , he only played the first three games. When SC Wismut won its second soccer championship in 1959, Groß had only a marginal share of the title win with only four league appearances. In the 1960 season, his league stakes decreased to two games. After that, Karl Groß ended his footballing career in the top leagues.

After his active career, Groß became involved as a youth coach in Aue.
