Karl Hartmann (economist)

Karl Hartmann (born January 7, 1929 ; † July 2, 2016 in Berlin ) was a professor of economics at the party college "Karl Marx" at the Central Committee of the SED and a candidate for the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany .

Life

Karl Hartmann did an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk from 1944 to 1948 and worked in the profession he had learned. From 1948 to 1950 he graduated from the Workers and Farmers Faculty , studied from 1950 to 1955 at the University of Economics and graduated with a degree in economics, specializing in industrial economics. In 1949 he became a member of the SED. From 1955 to 1962 he was an assistant and later a senior assistant and vice dean of the faculty of industrial economics. In 1960 he was promoted to Dr. rer. oec. PhD.

From 1962 he taught at the party college "Karl Marx" at the Central Committee of the SED, first from 1962 to 1963 as a lecturer and deputy director, 1963 to 1984 as head of the chair of industrial economics and from 1966 as full professor of industrial economics. From 1977 to 1990 he was director of the political economy and economics department.

1981 the habilitation to the Dr. sc. oec., 1986 to 1989 he was the first deputy to the rector of the party college. From 1986 to 1989 he was a candidate for the Central Committee of the SED . From 1977 to 1990 he was a member of the Council for Economic Research at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR and was deputy chairman there from 1983. From 1970 to 1990 he was a board member of the Scientific Council for Scientific and Technical Progress. From 1963 to 1990 he was a member of the editorial board of the journal "Wirtschaftswwissenschaft".

On June 30, 1990, the party college was closed and all professors dismissed. Karl Hartmann worked as a teacher from 1991 to 2006 and was a board member or chairman of an academy for advanced training (e.V.). Hartmann was a member of the Society for the Protection of Civil Rights and Human Dignity

Hartmann died at the age of 87. He is buried in the Karlshorster and Neuen Friedrichsfelder Friedhof .
