Karl Harzig

Karl Harzig (born August 5, 1903 in Duisburg , † October 21, 1970 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1950 to 1954 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

After elementary school , Karl Harzig did an apprenticeship, completed specialist courses and became a master carpenter . He attended the state college for economics and administration in Düsseldorf, after which he worked as operations manager. From 1952 to 1964 he was Labor Director of Mannesmann -Hüttenwerke (today Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann ) in Duisburg-Hüttenheim .

Harzig became a member of the German Woodworkers 'Association in 1918, in 1919 he joined the Socialist Workers' Youth , in 1922 he became a member of the SPD. From 1945 to 1949 Harzig was deputy chairman of the Duisburg SPD.

Harzig was a member of the Duisburg City Council from October 1948 to March 1961 , and since 1950 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. In the second electoral period he was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in constituency 69 (Duisburg-Süd); he was a member of parliament from July 5, 1950 to July 4, 1954.

A park in Ungelsheim was named after him.
