Karl Heinrich August Rätzsch

Karl Heinrich August Rätzsch (born August 31, 1815 in Dresden ; † February 8, 1865 there ) was a German stenographer and author.

Life

Heinrich Rätzsch studied law in Leipzig and then began working for a lawyer in Dresden. In 1846 he learned Gabelsberger's stenography from Franz Jacob Wigard and since 1848 has devoted himself exclusively to shorthand work. In 1850 he became a member of the Stenographic Institute in Dresden. Since 1854 he was involved in the revision of the Gabelsberger'schen stenography system. In 1857 he received the title of "Professor of Stenography".

The son Johann Richard continued his work.
