Karl Helmut Bayer

Karl Helmut Bayer (born March 3, 1931 in Fischern near Karlsbad , Bohemia ) is a German architect . He lives and works in Munich .

Life

Bayer studied at the Technical University of Munich and opened his own architecture office in Munich in 1959. From 1972 to 1991 he was chairman of the board of the planning center for independent architects and engineers in Munich and from 1974 to 1983 he was chairman of the board of the Deutsche Planungsgesellschaft Bonn . In 1974 he was elected President of the Association of Freelance Architects in Germany (VFA) and has been an honorary member since 1995.

From 1974 to 1992 he awarded the VFA Prize for the Promotion of Freelance Architecture, which he initiated in 1973. In 1991 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon and in 1996 he was appointed a full member of the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts , class of arts and sciences. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Presidium of the Sudeten German Academy.

Publications

Bayer published various articles in specialist journals and in 1973 was co-editor of the journal Der Freie Architekt . In 1976 he took part in the international exhibition Awakening and Crisis of Functionalism .
