from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Hermann (born June 21, 1888 in Finsterrot , † December 25, 1961 in Möckmühl ) was a German educator. He gained importance as a local researcher on topics around Heilbronn , where he also worked in school.

Life

Hermann came from a family of teachers and also took up the teaching profession himself, which he practiced for 47 years, including 32 years in his adopted home Neckargartach . Most recently he was senior teacher until his retirement in 1954 .

Even the father Friedrich Hermann was interested in local history and genealogy. Karl Hermann was a member of the Heilbronn Historical Society and has written a wealth of treatises on local history topics since the First World War . According to the Heilbronn archive director Alexander Renz, over 100 articles by Hermann appeared in the Neckar-Zeitung and Neckar-Echo . The Heilbronn local researcher Peter Hahn, who suggested naming a street after Hermann, counted a total of 36 treatises on the history of Heilbronn, six folklore works and 40 biographical articles.

After the Second World War , Hermann took part in the reconstruction of the Heilbronner Historisches Museum and published further articles in the local history supplement Schwaben und Franken der Heilbronn Voice as well as in three publications by the Heilbronn Historical Association , the writings on Friedrich Schiller's stay that Renz described as "particularly valuable" in Heilbronn (1954), Eberhard Gmelin (1957) and Friedrich August Weber (1960). In his estate there were also unpublished manuscripts of a Neckargartach local chronicle and a Neckargartach church history.
