Karl Hermann Rudorf

Karl Hermann Rudorf (born June 5, 1823 in Tharandt , † July 19, 1880 in Dresden ) was a German forest scientist .

Life

Rudorf attended the village school in Hinterhermsdorf and received his further education at the Freemason Institute in Dresden. In 1839 he passed his forestry apprenticeship in the Neustädter Revier. From 1840 to 1842 he studied at the Tharandt Forestry School . In 1846 he passed the state forest examination. On September 1, 1849, Rudorf advanced to the position of forest manager. In this capacity he remained with the forest management institute until 1857. On February 1, 1864, he was appointed forest inspector there, and on November 1, 1865, he was promoted to district chief forester in Bärenfels .

When, in 1876, the director of the Roch forest management institute was appointed to the head of the Saxon forestry department as a forest master, he did not hesitate to take over the director's position on February 1st of that year. Rudorf held the position until his death. In addition, he worked at the same time as a member of the examination commission for the Higher State Forest Service and as a member of the commission for forest research.
