Karl Heyden (painter)

Karl Heyden , also Carl Heyden (born November 15, 1845 in Cologne , † 1933 in Düsseldorf ), was a German genre , still life , portrait , vedute , architecture and landscape painter of the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Heyden studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Karl Ferdinand Sohn and Eduard Bendemann , and with Wilhelm Sohn from 1869 to 1870 . He went on several study trips through Belgium, Germany and France. Between 1876 and 1916 he took part in numerous exhibitions in Berlin, Bremen, Magdeburg, Munich, Dresden and Düsseldorf. Heyden was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . The portrait and genre painter Christian Heyden was his brother.
