Karl Hischier

Karl Hischier (born January 21, 1925 in Oberwald VS ; † August 21, 2016 in Fiesch ) was a Swiss skier.

Life

Hischier, son of August Hischier and Olivia Kreuzer , won the military ski patrol run at the Olympic revenge in St. Moritz in Oslo in 1949 in a team with Robert Zurbriggen , Arnold Andenmatten and Karl Bricker . At the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 he finished 17th in cross-country skiing in 18 km . In 1956 he was individual military world champion at the CISM Military World Championships in Oslo , was at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1962 in Zakopane and at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck cross-country skiing coach for the Swiss team.

Karl Hischier lived in his birthplace Oberwald, most recently part of the municipality of Obergoms . He died in 2016 in the St. Theodul retirement home in Fiesch.
