Karl Holper

Karl Holper (born March 27, 1919 in Güssing ; † April 21, 1997 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and master rope maker. Holper was a member of the Federal Council from 1960 to 1964 and a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1966 to 1977 .

Life

Holper attended the Güssing elementary school from 1925 to 1929 and then the Güssing secondary school until 1933. He then learned the profession of rope maker by 1936 and passed the master craftsman examination in 1947. He had previously served in the Wehrmacht from 1939 to 1944 and returned seriously wounded in October 1944. From 1947 to 1966 he worked as a master rope maker, from 1966 to 1976 he was a businessman.

Holper was town councilor and vice mayor of Güssing from 1950 to 1953 , after which he was mayor from 1953 to 1959. He also represented the ÖVP Burgenland from December 7, 1960 to May 26, 1964 as a member of the Federal Council and was then a member of the Burgenland Landtag from April 27, 1966 to October 27, 1977. Within the party, he held the function of local party chairman of the ÖVP Güssing from 1947 to 1977 and was district chairman of the Austrian Economic Association in the Güssing district from 1956 to 1977 .
