Karl Kast

Karl Kast (born October 23, 1919 ; † October 30, 2011 in Gammertingen ) was a politician ( CDU ) and long-time mayor of the municipality of Neufra (1962–1982).

Life

Kast joined the CDU in 1962 and was active there in the Sigmaringen district association. In the 1980s he joined the senior citizens' union , of which he was district chairman for several years at the beginning of the 21st century. Kast sat for the CDU from 1965 to 1985 in the district council of the Sigmaringen district .

Kast was for 26 years director of the county home for the elderly in Gammertingen , alderman in District Court Hechingen and member of the Management Committee of the Employment Office Balingen . For years he was also represented on the main committee of the Association of Baden-Württemberg Mayors.

After the Second World War, Kast worked as a police officer for 16 years and was then mayor of Neufra for 20 years.

He was particularly committed as a functionary in the field of sports, where he was President of the Turngau Hohenzollern for 25 years . He was an honorary member of the Swabian Gymnastics Federation and the Sigmaringen sports group. After 20 years as chairman of the Neufra gymnastics and sports club, he became its honorary chairman.

Kast was buried on November 4, 2011 in Neufra.

Awards

Karl Kast was holder of the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class (1989), the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon, the Konrad Adenauer Medal of the Senior Citizens' Union (2005), the only honorary president of the Hohenzollern Turngau and an honorary citizen of the Neufra community.
