Karl Kellner (teacher)

Karl Kellner (born March 17, 1890 in Küllstedt ; † September 11, 1965 in Karlsruhe ) was a teacher and local researcher in Oschersleben .

Life

Kellner attended the teachers' college in Duderstadt until 1911 and one year later he was employed at the Catholic elementary school in Oschersleben . After his return from military service, he devoted himself intensively to researching and coming to terms with the history of Oschersleben. He published books, writings and newspaper articles about it. He also composed a song about the city of Oschersleben and its surroundings. In addition, he took over the office of district curator for archaeological finds in the district of Oschersleben (Bode) and supervised the recovery of archaeological finds. In 1925 he created the first accommodation option in his apartment. Three years later, Kellner founded a local museum in Oschersleben with the help of the Willy Lohse Foundation. From 1933 to 1945 he was also a city councilor in Oschersleben.

In the following years, Kellner also took on the duties of steward for the preservation of monuments, officer for state archive maintenance and district officer for nature conservation. When the local history museum he founded was closed in 1961, Kellner left the city after his retirement in 1962.
