Karl Kleinschmidt (lawyer)

Friedrich Franz Karl (Carl) Kleinschmidt (born July 16, 1849 in Gernsheim , † December 25, 1921 in Darmstadt ) was a German lawyer and member of parliament.

Kleinschmidt was the son of the Higher Appeal and Cassation Judge Dr. Friedrich Theodor Kleinschmidt (1815–1895) and his wife Auguste Rosalie Louise née Reh (1823–1895). Kleinschmidt, who was a Protestant denomination, married on March 18, 1878 Josephine Katherine Mathilde Deininger (1852-1938), the daughter of the Imperial Chief Postal Director in Darmstadt Gottlieb Deininger and his wife Anna Gemple (1827-1910) from Freiburg (Breisgau).

He attended grammar school in Darmstadt until 1869 and studied law at the University of Heidelberg from 1869 to 1871 and at the University of Gießen from 1871 to 1872. In November 1872 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. From December 1872 to January 1875 he was an accessist at the Court Court, City Court and District Office in Darmstadt and then passed the state examination in May 1875. From 1875 to 1879 he was an accessist before he was admitted to the court court in April 1879 and as a lawyer at the regional court of the Starkenburg province and the higher regional court in Darmstadt in July 1879.

In 1891 he was a deputy member of the administrative commission of the Landeskreditkasse. In addition, he was several times a member of the disciplinary chamber for the notaries of the Starkenburg province. From 1893 he worked as a syndic of the Kaufungen Abbey . 1900–1920 he was a notary with an official seat in Darmstadt.

1905–1918 he was an appointed member for life of the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In 1903 he was appointed Judicial Councilor, and in 1912 he was appointed Privy Councilor . In February 1920 he was retired on request.
