Karl Kreibich (physician)

Karl Kreibich (born May 20, 1869 in Smichow , Bohemia , † December 30, 1932 in Prague ) was an Austrian dermatologist.

Life

Karl JJ Kreibich was a son of the chemist with the von Portheim brothers Karl RJ Kreibich (* 1841 Saaz ) and Rosa Kreibich geb. Hungarian (* 1847 Saaz). Two sons were born to the couple. Kreibich studied at the German-Bohemian Karl Ferdinand University in Prague. There he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He learned dermatology from 1896 in Vienna under Moritz Kaposi , with whom he completed his habilitation in 1902 . In 1903 he succeeded Adolf Jarisch, who died of typhus , as associate professor and head of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Graz . Two years later she made him a professor . In 1906 he moved - again initially as associate professor - to the local Karl Ferdinand University. As successor to Philipp Josef Pick since 1908 full professor , he remained in office even after the collapse of the Danube Monarchy and the establishment of Czechoslovakia . In 1923/24 he was rector .

He dealt primarily with Quincke's edema , the pathogenesis of eczema and pigment formation in the skin, and brought chemotherapy into dermatology. As the last representative of the famous Viennese school of dermatology, he died of a heart attack . His successor was Rudolf Bezecny .
