Karl Lechner (historian, 1897)

Karl Lechner (born May 6, 1897 in Vienna ; † October 5, 1975 there ) was an Austrian archive director and regional historian .

Life

At the young age of only 23, Karl Lechner received his doctorate in the subject of history , Dr. phil. at the University of Vienna . At the same time, he completed his training at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research in Vienna. In 1923 he joined the Lower Austrian Provincial Archives, which he was director from 1940 to 1962 . In addition to this activity, Lechner completed his habilitation at the University of Vienna, as ao. Univ. Prof.

In addition, from 1927 to 1970 he was Secretary General of the Association for Regional Studies of Lower Austria , during which time he created numerous publications.
